Engineuity has developed a technology and method for producing hydrogen on-board, thereby overcoming the obstacles associated with manufacturing, transporting and storing of hydrogen.

The technology is based on the reaction between light metals like Aluminum/Magnesium with water to produce Hydrogen and steam. The pressurized hot mixture is fed to a modified internal combustion engine. Inside the engine the Hydrogen is then oxidized by air. In this way, both the chemical energy stored in the Hydrogen and the thermal energy produced by the reaction of the metal with water, are utilized.

The metal oxide which is the spent product of the reaction is separated and later returned to the producer for recycling.

The process is totally clean and no CO2 and/or CO products are emitted to the environment (Carbon free process).
